Nick Vleisides

I established Community Chaplain Resources in the summer of 2011 after serving as a pastor in a variety of settings over a span of 24 years. As a young man, I was a reserve firefighter and began a career path in the fire service only to discover that God had other plans for me. After several years of directing summer water ski camps and teaching public school, I attended seminary and began serving in full-time ministry in 1987.
While an associate pastor in Austin, TX, I was invited by some men in our church to join the local volunteer fire department where I became a Texas Certified Volunteer Firefighter and EMT. More significantly, I became the department’s first Fire Chaplain. After 8 years I moved back to the Bay Area to pastor a local church. During my 6 years as a pastor, I also volunteered as a chaplain for the Contra Costa County Sheriff’s Office and the San Ramon Valley Fire Protection District.
I served for over 24 years on several church pastoral teams: Ten years at Peninsula Bible Church in Palo Alto, Ca.; Eight years at Austin Ridge Bible Church in Austin, TX; Six years at Creekside Community Church in Alamo, CA
I am married to Heidi and we have three adult children. My hobbies include off road motorcycling having traversed the Outback of Australia; the Baja Peninsula and almost every state west of Kansas. I also enjoy street riding and conquered the German, Swiss, Italian and Austrian Alps on an epic trip. Fishing fills in the gaps and finding a good beach to soak up the sun and catch a few waves is my favorite way to relax.
The ministry of Community Chaplain Resources began as a journey with a vision to reach out to firefighters, law enforcement officers, schools and community members who experience critical incidents and tragic events. Community Chaplain Resources exists to extend the love of God to those who find themselves needing emotional and spiritual guidance, care and support on an ongoing basis while building relationships with officers, deputies, firefighters and community members.
